Introduced in 2017, YouTube TV has become one of the most popular live streaming services in the United States due to its advanced features. The platform, with increasing competition from rivals, aims to outpace them with its Multiview feature.
YouTube multiview feature opens to generel use
The Multiview feature on YouTube TV, which allows users to watch up to four different matches at the same time, was initially unveiled in March. Later in June, YouTube expanded this feature to include news channels like BBC News. Now, the company is making the Multiview feature available for general use.
YouTube, however, announced that unlike the beta versions, this feature will only be available for WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association) matches at the moment. YouTube TV subscribers with compatible devices will be able to follow four WNBA matches simultaneously.
In the future, YouTube plans to broaden the scope of the Multiview feature. The company aims to add more sports events and also include news and other content channels in the Multiview feature. However, the company has not yet specified a clear date for these plans.
So, what do you need to use the Multiview feature on YouTube TV? Firstly, you must have a smart TV that can run the YouTube TV application. Note that this feature is not available for use on smartphones or browsers.
Furthermore, your TV screen should be large enough. Otherwise, watching four divided small screens may be uncomfortable. Once you have the necessary hardware, you can benefit from the Multiview feature by selecting supported broadcasts on YouTube TV. Also, remember that the audio of the default broadcast in the top-left corner will be played, but you can change it using the arrow keys.
